The Unit participated in the training course – Sharing Experience and Cooperation on Terrorist Financing – with the participant of Mr. Philippe de Koster, president of Belgian Financial Intelligence Processing Unit (CTIF – CFI), Mr. Heins the vice president, and Mr. Jens Kauffeld from the Danish Foreign Ministry in Denmark.
The training course addressed many topics including the organizational chart of the Belgian (CTIF – CFI), the subjected entities to the law, the taken procedures in the analysis process of the STRs. The training course also addressed the statistics and utilized sectors in financing terrorism from 2001 to 2015, the current threats of the financing terrorist fighters and ISIL and the use of virtual currencies as a tool by terrorists.
The training course also presented the main tools that were used in Paris attacks 2015.
