Governance System:

The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan is an independent sovereign Arab State. It is indivisible and inalienable and no part of it may be ceded. The people of Jordan form a part of the Arab Nation, and its system of government is parliamentary with a hereditary monarchy, and Islam is the religion of the State.

The Nation is the source of all powers, and it shall exercise its powers in the manner prescribed by the present Constitution. The Legislative Power shall be vested in the National Assembly and the King. And the National Assembly shall consist of a Senate and a Chamber of Deputies, the Executive Power shall be vested in the King, who shall exercise his powers through his Ministers in accordance with the provisions of the present Constitution. The Judicial Power shall be exercised by the courts of law in their varying types and degrees. All judgments shall be given in accordance with the law and pronounced in the name of the King.

The Flag:

The flag symbolizes the Kingdom's roots in the Great Arab Revolt of 1916, as it is adapted from the revolt banner. The black, white and green bands represent the Arab Abbasid, Umayyad and Fatimid dynasties respectively, while the crimson triangle joining the bands represents the Hashemite dynasty. The seven-pointed Islamic star set in the center of the crimson triangle represents the seven verses of Surat Al-Fatiha, the first sura in the Holy Qura'n.

Location:

Jordan is located at the junction of Europe, Asia and Africa where contains an area of (89.3) thousand km 2 nature of the ground variety, the middle hills and mountains, and northern plains of the desert which stretches east towards Iraq and Saudi Arabia while a Jordan River flowing through the Jordan Valley, fertile borders of West Jordan, and hurt the Jordan River in the Dead Sea, this body of water which is at the lowest spot in the world, with a depth of 400 m below sea level. Further south, there is a port of Aqaba to Jordan, which provides an outlet to the Red Sea. It is called Jordan proportion to the Jordan River, which passes on its western border.

The population of the Kingdom around (10,203,134) million.

The Capital:

 Amman is the largest city in the country with an area of, including the suburbs, 80.000 sq. Km. Amman is loacated in the center of the country, on the border of the desert and over a close small mountains numbered fourteen mountains.

The narrow railway line, which was linking Amman with North Syria and with Ma'an then the Arabian Peninsula South, passes through Amman.

Amman is considered a significant commercial and industrial center. The industrial sector witnesses a remarkable developments representing in manufacturing Cement, Phosphate, Oil refining, Plastic, Pharmaceutical industry, Leathers, piping, food industry and the manufacture of cigarettes, marbles cutting and polishing, handicrafts, glass making, seashell and embroidery.

Official language:

The official language is Arabic, and English is used widely as a first foreign language.

Currency and Exchange Rates:

Jordan's currency is the Jordanian Dinar / JD. It is available in paper notes of 50, 20, 10, 5, 1. Coins come in denominations of 0.5 JD, 0.25 JD, and 100, 50, 25, 10 and 5 fils, issued by the Central Bank of Jordan, who determines the exchange rates daily.

Requirements to obtain a visa:

Obtaining a visa is a requirement to enter Jordan, the fees and duration varies according to the nationality of the visitor, although it is possible to secure a visa from the Jordanian diplomatic mission or at the crossing point for some nationalities only.

Airports:

Queen Alia International Airport: Located at a distance of 35 km from the center of the capital.

Amman Airport: This airport is located in MARKA, which is part of East Amman, It is a regional airport which serves domestic and international airline including the offices to Royal Jordanian.

King Hussein International Airport in Aqaba: The King Hussein International Airport is the gate of Jordan in Aqaba, and is considered a vital artery for air transport where there are a large number of carriers nationally and internationally, as the trip from Amman to Aqaba and back is about 45 minutes.

Time is GMT + 2 in winter and 3 in summer. Summer time is observed from April through October at every year
