The Unit participated in the meetings of the Egmont Working Groups, held in the city of Monte Carlo- Monaco during the period from 1 - 4/2/2016 and with the participation of the counterpart units from all over the world and a number of permanent observers in the mentioned group.

The Unit attended the meetings of the heads of Financial Intelligence Units, the regional meeting for the Middle East and North Africa, the Operational Working Group and the Membership, Support and Compliance Working Group.







The meetings witnessed the establishment of new working groups that gathered the previous functions of the old working groups in addition to new functions. The new working groups are as follows: The Information Exchange on Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing Working Group, the Membership, Support and Compliance Working Group, the Policy and Procedures Working Group and the Technical Assistance and Training Working Group.

It is worth mentioning that the Egmont Group meeting are considered as an international forum whereby all Egmont Group FIU's members from all over the world& participate in such meetings and exchange their expertise and best practices related to the functions of FIU's, in addition to coordinating their efforts in the fight against money laundering and terrorist financing.

Egmont Group is an inter-governmental body which reinforces the& international cooperation between financial intelligence units to combat money laundering and terrorist financing, and was established by a number of financial intelligence units in 1995, and has (151) member countries which has operational financial intelligence units.
