The Unit Participation in the Arab Forum for Anti-Corruption Agencies and Financial Intelligence Units

The Head of the Anti-Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing Unit and the accompanying Unit delegation participated in the Arab Forum for Anti-Corruption Agencies and Financial Intelligence Units, which was hosted under the generous patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Riyadh- Saudi Arabia, last week.
We seize the opportunity to extend our thanks and appreciation to H.E. Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al-Muhanna, Head of the Saudi Arabia Financial Investigation Unit (SAFIU), on his warm reception, great organization and on the success of this important forum, which was a great opportunity to put financial investigations units ahead and in preparation of the next phase to use advanced modern technology tools and utilizeing artificial intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning and enhancing the capacity and qualification of human resources.
As part of her participation as a speaker, the Head of the Unit Ms. Samya Abou Sharif highlighted in her discussions the techniques of tracking funds to monitor financial crime, the opportunities and challenges that are faced. The forum successfully concluded its agenda and resulted in several recommendations, one of which is for Arab countries to adopt a model agreement to enhance local cooperation between anti-corruption agencies and financial intelligence units, Arab efforts in the field of combating money laundering, terrorism financing, and related crimes, most notably corruption crimes were also highlighted, in addition to agreement on the importance of continuing to hold the Forum for Anti-Corruption Agencies and Financial Intelligence Units due to its importance in enhancing cooperation between Arab countries in this field.
