Best Practices on Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism regional workshop.

The European Union mission in Amman, in partnership with the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation and in cooperation with the Anti Money Laundering and Counter Terrorist Financing Unit, held a regional workshop entitled (Best Practices on Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism), last week and over the course of three days.
The aim was to present the Jordanian experience in combating money laundering and terrorist financing, during which a number of meetings were held with representatives of the Lebanese authorities within the Technical Assistance and Information Exchange (TAIEX) program, which focused on best practices in the field of combating money laundering and terrorist financing.
Mr. Ala Banifawaz, Deputy Chief of the Unit welcomed this initiative and the Lebanese authorities participants in his opining remarks together with Mr. Gert-Jan Koopman, Director General at the DG NEAR (Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations).
This event was organized in cooperation between the Jordanian government, the Lebanese government, and the European Union missions in both countries. The workshop included experts from Jordan, Belgium, France, Poland, and Spain.
It provided an opportunity to highlight Jordan's experience in dealing with the ICRG process, and this workshop was an opportunity to present the Kingdom's experience, as Jordan was recently delisted from the FATF gray list after months of work and great efforts to improve the framework for combating money laundering and terrorist financing in Jordan.
Representatives from the Anti Money Laundering and Counter Terrorist Financing Unit, the Central Bank of Jordan, the Jordanian Judicial Council, and the Companies Control Department, in addition to representatives from the relevant authorities in Lebanon and the EU, participated in the workshop, where their valuable experiences, lessons learned, and successful practices in exiting the FATF Gray List.
